Bio
My name is Mary Beth Gruenewald and this is my 13th year teaching in the Wake County Public School System. I am a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Go Heels!) where I was a North Carolina Teaching Fellow. I am originally from Greensboro, NC where my immediate family still resides. I am the oldest of four. I have two sisters (Margaret and Katie) and one brother (Alex). My son, Joshua is a very energetic toddler who likes to spend a good deal of his time outside. I love to play Words with Friends and Scrabble. I am also an avid runner. Joshua loves to get in the stroller and go running with me. I have completed several marathons and half marathons. As exhilarating as completing those races can be, nothing beats a run in the park with my family! I LOVE sports! I especially love college basketball, football and hockey! At Sycamore Creek, I have started the Girls on the run program and I run the school wide spelling bee!
What to Expect
We work hard in fourth grade, but we also have a lot of fun. I expect all of my students to try their hardest. I spend a large portion of my time at the beginning of the year creating a learning environment where students feel comfortable working together and asking questions in order to better understand concepts taught in class. My two biggest rules in class are that we are always honest with one another and that we embrace each other’s differences so that all of us feel successful in the classroom. If at any time during the school year you have a concern, please email me at [email protected]. I am anxiously looking forward to this school year!!
Sincerely,
Ms. Gruenewald
